Getting to Prestwick Airport

With flights to more than 30 destinations, Glasgow Prestwick International Airport is the main hub for Scotland. Glasgow Prestwick Airport has a single terminal that handles both arrivals and departures. Arrivals is situated on the ground floor, as are the airport’s check-in desks. Departure lounges are located on the first floor.

On the first floor, you can find extensive duty-free, WH Smith and Scottish gift shops. More shops are located on the main concourse. A bureau de change and two ATMs are on hand in the main concourse. Both before and after security, video games are offered for waiting passengers. Wi-Fi access is available throughout the terminal and internet kiosks can be found on the ground and the first floor. The left luggage facility is situated within the airport’s security department. An on-site prayer room is located in the Arrivals area on the ground floor, across from the Information Desk. Major car hire companies at the airport include Avis, Hertz and Europcar. Car hire counters are located in the main Arrivals Hall, adjacent to the Domestic Baggage Reclaim area.

The Food Village on the main concourse offers an array of dishes and the nearby Alloway Bar has a good selection of drinks. There is also a pub and two restaurants situated on the first floor.

Transport and parking at Glasgow Prestwick Airport

Nearby the check-in desks, you will find the airport’s train station. The airport is connected to the train station by an enclosed skywalk. Trains run to and from Glasgow every 30 minutes, while buses also provide transport links. Stagecoach Airbus Western bus number 4 operates to and from the airport and Glasgow Buchanan Street every 30 minutes at peak times and every hour at other times. Taxis are also available to nearby cities and can be found at the taxi rank on the terminal forecourt.

Parking at Glasgow Prestwick Airport consists of two short-term car parks, one mid-term car park and two long-term car parks. The two short-term parking lots are in walking distance of the terminal and are free for the first 10 minutes, since there is no curbside drop-off zone. The other car parks are linked to the terminal by free shuttle bus services. Advance booking for long-term parking is recommended and will guarantee you the best rates.

Prestwick Airport has one of the best set of public transport links for passengers to get to. There is no public transport serving passengers who require to check-in prior to 07:30 or who arrive on flights which do not connect with the last train which departs at 23:08
